Attendance & punctuality are an important part of your child’s education – their learning and achievements.
It may sound OK if your child has 90% attendance, however, this effectively means they are missing half a day of school per week. Over one year this equates to a child missing 4 weeks of school and during the course of their education half a year of schooling would be lost.
All absence and lateness is recorded on your child’s school record and we monitor this information. Absences and lateness are followed up by an attendance officer or our support worker. But remember, we are here to help! If you are having difficulties getting your child to school please come and talk to us.
The school days starts at:
8.40am for children in Year 3 / Year 4 / Year 5/ Year 6 / Nest
8.50am for children in Nursery / Reception / Year 1 / Year 2
Parents whose children are regularly absent or arrive late will receive the following:
1st Action: Verbal Warning from Head Teacher
2nd Action Letter Home
3rd Action: Meeting with Head Teacher
4th Action: Referral to the Education Welfare Officer
If attendance improves children will be issued with a certificate of reward.
The full Academy Attendance Policy is available upon request from the school office.
Holidays during term time:
Bluecoat Primary Academy does not grant permission for holidays during term time unless the circumstances are deemed exceptional. We have an obligation to take appropriate action in line with government legislation to request penalty notices for any parent who we believe has taken their child out of school during term time.
