It is an honour to be Head Teacher at Bluecoat Primary Academy. Although the Academy is in its infancy, opening in January 2015, it is part of a well-established family – the Bluecoat family – which has been educating young people since 1706. This means that we can offer a strong and positive start to a child’s educational journey. The school is still growing and therefore is always looking to the future and how best to enable children to succeed.
Bluecoat Primary Academy offers a caring, nurturing and secure environment that enables everyone to strive to be the best that they can be. We share a life-long love of learning and recognise that students and staff alike are on a journey; acquiring deep knowledge, skills and understanding along the way. We strive to deliver the highest standard of teaching and learning, and ensure that all children achieve their potential. In order to do this, the staff ensure that lessons are stimulating and meaningful to the children, whilst also offering a good level of challenge to all learners. Children at the Academy enjoy their lessons and make good progress.
We pride ourselves on learning from each other and recognise that everyone has something valuable to offer. Bluecoat truly values everyone and everyone has a voice. I love the fact that our school is so diverse – made up of families from different social, cultural and religious backgrounds. It is wonderful to see our pupils working together and taking care of one another.
All staff have high expectations for themselves and their pupils. We are passionate about the success of each and every individual and we make sure that we prepare children to make exceptional contributions to our global society. Children are supported to be resilient learners who engage with their learning and apply themselves well to all that they do. This will equip them with the personal attributes that will prepare them to take the next step on their learning journey when they leave the Primary.
At Bluecoat we foster positive behaviour, attitudes and manners. We encourage children to show integrity in their actions and be guided by their core values so that they grow into thoughtful, considerate individuals who can make good choices in the future.
Underpinning all that we do is our faith. Belief is important to us: we believe in ourselves, in each other and in God and we strive for life in all its fullness. Joining Bluecoat Primary Academy means joining a family where you can be nurtured and challenged to be the best that you can be.
I very much look forward to welcoming you to our Academy to see us at work on a school day; do not hesitate to contact us for further information if you would like to know more.
