Food & Lunch Time

All Reception and Key Stage 1 children are entitled to a free hot two course meal paid for by the Government as part of the Universal Free School Meal scheme.

All meals are freshly prepared using halal meat and cooked in our kitchens, meals are healthy and include plenty of fruit and vegetables. We also have a salad bar and freshly baked bread available each day.

We also offer a vegetarian and deli select option each day which is also suitable for children with allergies.

Eating a meal together with friends is a social event and is an enjoyable experience for children. It helps them learn the correct use of cutlery for cutting and slicing food and also gives them the responsibility of tidying away plates afterwards.

How do I order school meals for my child?

Meals will now be bookable at home via your Weduc app.  This exciting development for ordering meals will offer more choice and enable children more opportunity eat the foods that they like. This will be for all meals including those where no payment is required for example universal free school meals (for children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) and income-based free school meals. You will however need to have a positive balance to place a meal booking. Therefore please clear your outstanding dinner debts now.

The options available to choose from will be:

  • Hot dish of the day
  • Vegetarian option
  • Deli Select (which is also allergen aware)
  • Packed lunch from home

You will be able to order meals well in advance (a whole term ahead if you wish) but, to ensure orders are with the kitchen in time, there will be a cut off of Friday afternoon at 12pm for all meal orders for the following week. Even if your child is not having a school meal and bringing in a packed lunch from home we still require you to enter this information so we know a meal isn’t required.  If you have multiple children at the school, you will need to repeat the process for each child. You can switch between children by tapping ‘view another child’ in the Parent Portal.

The deadline for meal orders is Friday 12pm for the following weeks meals. Please be aware that meals booked after this time will not be ordered but may still be charged.

Please see next page for step-by-step instructions of how to place the order for meals. There is also lots of help and guides on the Weduc website https://weduchelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/14170969874833-How-do-I-order-school-meals-for-my-child

If after reading the instructions you are struggling with meals ordering please come with your phone to the school office and one of the admin team will try and help you. There will also be office staff available on both of the parents evening if you have any questions about the Weduc app or ordering meals.

We also have fruit and milk available for children in Reception and Key Stage 1. Fresh drinking water is available for all children, throughout the day. If you would like to set your child up to receive milk each day this can be done via the Cool Milk website – please click here.

Children also have the option of bringing a healthy packed lunch to school if they prefer. We do encourage parents to only pack healthy items and ask that no sweets or fizzy drinks are included.

We have two different sittings each lunchtime time, 11.35am-12.25pm for our younger children and 12.30pm-1.15pm to our older children.
